The Anchorage Democrats Community Action Fund is intended to support local initiatives that demonstrate a benefit to the greater Anchorage community, made possible through Alaska's Charitable Gaming Funds through the Alaska Democratic Party. Projects that create social, educational, artistic and recreational initiatives are invited to apply each year to receive a grant.

Applicants can be individuals, businesses or non-profit organizations that reside within the municipality of Anchorage. The applicant should clearly articulate how funds will be used, and how the use of funds will benefit the community.

Congratulations to the 2011 Award Recipients:

Young Democrats help clean up our adopted trail

The Anchorage Democrats are taking part in the "Adopt-a-Trail" program this summer.  We have adopted a section of the Campbell Creek Trail between Lake Otis and Elmore.  On June 18 the Anchorage Young Democrats picked up trash along the trail and the creek.  Another clean up day is planned by the end of July. See more photos here.

Thank you YD's for helping us make our community a better place!

The Anchorage Democrats were a proud sponsor of one of the brightly decorated Port-a-Potties at this year's annual alaska Run for Women.

Volunteers spent Friday evening adorning the port a potty with patriotic buttons, streamers, balloons and information on democrats for patron's reading pleasure.

The run, held this year on June 11th, is an annual effort to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research and honor those who have been affected by it.

With over 7,200 participants in this year's race, and a ton of positive feedback from participants proud to see the blue donkey represented, we're looking forward to next year's race.

Save the Date: Saturday, June 9th, 2012!

If you're interested in helping next year, or even forming a team to participate in the race, please contact us at ancdemocrats@gmail.com
